          Next CCRA Meeting

This will be on Thursday 16th November 2023 at 6:45 - If you want to have something raised or take part, please contact the CCRA via reply@clissoldcourt.co.uk..

          Climate Change Work

Our Climate Change Sub-Group has been very busy. We've agreed to plat two strawberry trees on two sides of the fish pond to give more shade (eventually!) as well as inserting amber coloured 'filters' to the back communal garden lights so insects are not attracted to them.
Work is continuing on finalising flood prevention measures as the estate is at high risk of surface water flooding. 'Snorkel Vents' will be permanently installed over all the ground level air vents as well as 'Osma' barriers for the communal front doors. Some form of flood barrier, possibly marine ply slotted in front of the back communal doors is also being looked into.

Some parts of the central garden area will be given over to wild flowers.

Since major roofing works will be carried out in 2024, the installation of solar panels is also being seriously proposed.

          Clissold Court Architects

Whilst looking at the Clissold Court site via Google, other sites showed that the architects were a partnership called Howes and Jackman. They also designed the newly renovated art deco Phoenix cinema in Finchley. RIBA have informed us that their names were James Frederick Howes, ARIBA 1929 (d1961) and Frederick Leonard Jackman, ARIBA 1927. Although they have information on their other designs, they have no records of their work on Clissold Court. More investigation of the architects might throw light on the begining of our estate. So far, nothing comes up via Google.
